HAPO Community Credit Union has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President of Mortgage to join our team. The VP of Mortgage is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the mortgage division. The VP of Mortgage is responsible for providing a strategic vision that will drive the credit union's mortgage lending initiatives. This vision, developed in collaboration with the SVP/Chief Lending Officer, will establish short-term and long-term plans to expand the division's product offerings while creating automated, efficient processes, policies, and procedures.
Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:
- Provides strategic leadership, guidance, and development to Mortgage Leadership team.
- Oversees and manages all aspects of the mortgage lending process.
- Manages production goals, while ensuring the level of expected service, quality, and integrity of the loans are maintained.
- Develops and implements strategic plans to continuously enhance operational efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and improve member experience.
- Cultivates a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and teamwork.
- Handles escalations and complex loan scenarios, providing expert guidance and resolution.
- Effectively manages changes and actively seeks ways to ensure adoption.
- Makes critical organizational decisions and/or commitments on behalf of the credit union.

- Extensive knowledge in mortgage policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Ability to think strategically and display excellent problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills, which requires minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster and maintain relationships at all levels inside and out of the organization.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of financial institution operational methods practices and services.
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate the achievement of goals, objectives, and work plans.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people including Board Members, regulators, Members, employees, attorneys, vendors, and other parties.
- Ability to supervise personnel motivation, interviewing, hiring, oversight, evaluation, and discipline.
- Understand and exemplify HAPO’s commitment to corporate leadership, particularly the core value of service.
- Close attention to detail and documentation is essential.
- Thrives in managing multiple projects with tight deadlines and high expectations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of demonstrated working mortgage knowledge.
- 5+ years of leadership experience.
