Description
Under close supervision, and in a learning capacity, to assist in the performance of analytical work in a County department; to perform research on a wide variety of special projects as required.
Candidates who meet the employment standards will be invited to take an online written examination tentatively scheduled for the week of November 18,2024. The examination instructions will be sent via the email address attached to your application.
Typical Tasks
  • Assists in conducting research studies or performs elementary research;
  • Gathers and assembles simple data involving limited variables which requires minimum discretion or judgment in what is gathered;
  • Makes structured mathematical and statistical calculations;
  • Makes simple comparative analyses of technical data;
  • Assists in the more routine, technical phases of special studies, surveys, investigations and research projects;
  • Prepares graphic charts; answers routine correspondence and inquiries from the public and county employees;
  • Assists in providing administrative control over clerical and technical staff assigned to the central administrative services operation;
  • Assists in developing departmental clerical and fiscal procedures and policies;
  • Assists in analyzing office methods, procedures and forms;
  • Assists in developing recommendations for improvement of procedures and coordination of departmental functions;
  • Assists in conducting studies and preparing reports;
  • Assists in developing and maintaining departmental operating or procedures manuals;
  • Assists with the preparation and administration of contracts and the preparation of grant applications;
  • Assists in conducting special projects related to developmental administrative services;
  • May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker, as required;
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Employment Standards
Sufficient education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the above typical tasks, and possession of the following knowledge and abilities:
Training and Experience Note: The required knowledge and abilities are acquired through training and experience equivalent to the completion of 60 college semester units (90 quarter units). Relevant analytical, administrative, lead, supervisory or management experience that includes interpreting rules and regulations, gathering and formulating recommendations, and report writing may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Special Requirements:
  • Some positions may require possession of valid California driver's license prior to appointment and the ability to qualify for and maintain a County Driver's Authorization.
  • Some positions may require Live Scan as part of the background check process.
Knowledge of:
  • Statistical research and data collection techniques and procedures;
  • Office procedures including the maintenance of records;
  • Principles of mathematical and statistical computations;
  • Effective communication and interviewing techniques required for gathering, evaluating and transmitting information;
  • English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation;
  • Modern office practices, methods, and computer equipment and applications related to the work.
Ability to:
  • Collect, assemble, and analyze simple technical data;
  • Communicate and interact in situations requiring instruction, persuasion, and motivating people;
  • Prepare and present clear and concise reports;
  • Speak effectively and participate in group meetings and individual interviews with the general public and county officials at various levels of authority;

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
