Wolf Lake Services is seeking a highly qualified professional to join our team in support of the US Coast Guard (USCG) Multidiscipline Healthcare Services. The primary focus of this position is to provide medical services to all eligible beneficiaries within the capabilities normally granted to a Certified Medical Assistant/Medical Assistant (CMA/MA). The CMA/MA shall meet or exceed the industry standards in accordance with established principles, practices, and ethics and shall reflect the degree and care, skill and learning expected of a reasonably prudent healthcare provider in the CMA/MA profession in the state of their practice. This position is contingent upon award.

Core Duties:

  • Assess patients' needs for care, plan for medical interventions, assess the effectiveness of the interventions, and alter the medical plan and interventions appropriately
  • Administer oxygen and subcutaneous and intra-muscular medication
  • Prepare patients for surgical and or diagnostic procedures
  • Prepare, operate, and monitor specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, etc.
  • Inventory medicine and drug stocks to ensure adequate supplies and controls
  • Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur in addition to regular scheduled appointments
  • Greet and receive patients to the clinic and discreetly ascertain the nature of their illness or condition and direct them to appropriate care
  • Respond to request for routine non-medical information such as duty status
  • Receive and screen phone calls
  • File and maintain healthcare records
  • File health care reports in health records
  • Maintain health record checkout file
  • Input daily patient information into the Coast Guard Healthcare Information Systems
  • Use all Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. to track, data, generate reports, and prepare presentations
  • Review and route incoming correspondence
  • Schedule and track consultations for specialty care
  • Maintain referral log and notify patients of appointments
  • Review and verify patient eligibility for care in accordance with Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS) computer system guidelines
  • Provide instruction to clinic staff on an ad hoc basis
  • Prepare and submit appropriate documentation as specified in applicable regulations
  • Become familiar with the TRICARE medical benefits program through completion of appropriate nonresident training and offer benefits counseling to Coast Guard beneficiaries regarding utilizing their TRICARE benefit
