Job Summary

This position oversees account management, prepares various variance reports and aids in the budget preparation and implementation of the annual operating budget of approximately $54 million.
This position performs complex planning and analytical functions and exercises strong judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The Finance Analyst 3 must demonstrate proven ability to analyze complex fiscal issues and information, recognize potential impact, identify alternative solutions and make recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related areas and/ or equivalent experience/ training.
- Experience and demonstrated knowledge with accounting, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, personnel, equipment inventory and business management practices and procedures (UCD preferred).
- Analytical skills to anticipate/identify problems, perform research to resolve such problems, and develop creative solutions.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles with diverse fund restrictions, fund accounting and research-related accounting
- Knowledge of budgetary cycles and practices, personnel/payroll practices, business agreements, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Mathematical skills sufficient to accurately calculate, manipulate and adjust data related to budgetary and financial activities.
- Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions that may include, but are not limited to, heavy workload, conflicting priorities, and frequent interruptions, and short deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
- Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments.
- Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
- Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to function as a member of a team.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

- Experience with UC Davis automated financial, personnel and payroll systems: Aggie Enterprise, Aggie Expense, Cognos, Kuali, UCPath.
