MKS produces precision machined parts for Aerospace, Defense, and Medical Industries.
The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and generating CMM programs used to inspect and verify production materials and components while ensuring all parts meet quality standards required in the aerospace and defense sectors. The CMM Programmer works directly with Quality Engineer resources to determine inspection criteria and best practice inspection techniques. The programmer will operate measurement equipment to perform machine trials on newly developed part programs and prepare them for machine readiness.
Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Create, execute, and run programs on CMM machines using software such as PC-DMIS.
  • Inspection Criteria: Review blueprints and specifications to establish correct inspection criteria following best practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform meticulous inspection and testing to ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with CAM programming, Quality Inspectors, and Machinists to develop appropriate in-process manual inspections and optimize final inspection strategies.
  • Documentation: Write detailed inspection plans, including CMM fixturing setup.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards such as ISO, and GD&T.
  • Continuous Improvement: Familiarity with Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
  • Education: Associate's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of related experience in CMM programming.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with PC-DMIS software, strong understanding of CNC programming, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and quality inspection processes.
  • Soft Skills: Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
