ABOUT THIS POSITION:

Purpose of this role: To support the financial reporting and accounting functions of a growing portfolio of multifamily properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a Senior Accountant, you will work closely with the Assistant Controller and property management team to provide accurate and timely financial reporting. You will oversee the accounting for institutional-quality multifamily properties, reviewing disbursements, general ledger data, and preparing financial reconciliations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and organized, with a strong background in real estate accounting and GAAP knowledge. As a Senior Accountant, you will:

  1. Support the Assistant Controller and Property Management team in setting up and transitioning new properties
  2. Review and oversee property-level payables, receivables, and fixed asset records
  3. Assist in coaching and training junior team members
  4. Compare financial results to budgets and prepare variance explanations
  5. Reconcile cash, investment, and equity accounts, and manage capital for property renovations
  6. Ensure timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings in accordance with GAAP

YOU ARE/HAVE:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA strongly preferred)
  2. 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate
  3. Proficiency in Yardi and RealPage software is highly preferred
  4. Strong working knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting practices
  5. Excellent time management and attention to detail
  6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  7. Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  8. Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
