Summary:

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Programs, the Senior Director is responsible for program, fiscal, compliance oversight of the operations of the Family Self Sufficiency department. This includes budget management, staff supervision, capacity building, grants/contract compliance, and performance management of over 14 programs, two sites, and mobile outreach. The position provides oversight, outreach, and direction of client services/activities to alleviate poverty. The Senior Director will be responsible for responding to the needs of the community, executing programs based on the direction of the VP of Programs. The Senior Director is responsible for expanding activities based on the strategic vision of Catholic Charities. Experience in planning, prioritizing, and organizing a complex workload in a diverse community is required. Must be willing to be on call and work evenings and weekends on an as needed basis.

Position Responsibilities:

Administration:

  • Develop and maintain a productive work environment and manage administrative functions
  • Develop and maintain program budget in consultation with appropriate staff members
  • Responsible for compliance to federal grant regulations including programmatic and fiscal oversight
  • Responsible for on-going monitoring of program budgets and expenses, including budget revisions when appropriate
  • Ensure program compliance with policies, procedures, and performance outcomes established by funders, accrediting bodies, and Catholic Charities
  • Prepare performance, fiscal, and statistical reports for necessary positions, funding sources, and other external stakeholders
  • Development and implementation of program policies and procedures
  • Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders

Program Management:

  • Lead Family Self-Sufficiency programs, with continuous improvements to respond to the demanding needs in the community and be a leader in poverty alleviation efforts
  • Monitor and oversee Family Self-sufficiency Day to day operations and community sites including Guadalupe Community Center, St. Stephen’s CARE Center, and Mobile Units
  • Develop program-wide and individualized work plans and training plans to ensure high-quality service delivery and to develop staff competencies
  • Ensure maintenance of confidential files and record-keeping systems
  • Identify, gather, enter, and analyze data relative to local trends, and needs of the community in regard to poverty alleviation
  • Develop and monitor systems for efficient workflow and financial tracking
  • Prepare grant applications and implement grant-funded projects
  • Enhance management and leadership skills through participation in meetings, seminars, and conferences
  • Develop partnerships with external stakeholders to increase agency capacity and program reach
  • Contribute to the development of new initiatives for programs and the agency

Outreach/Relationships:

  • Represent Catholic Charities in an appropriate and professional manner to external stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain contacts with stakeholders in the social service and education fields
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funders, non-governmental, and governmental entities
  • Conduct presentations in a variety of community settings to recruit volunteers
  • Participate in community committees/coalitions as appropriate

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the completion of all required professional development assignments in a timely manner for themselves and their direct reports
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of all staff under their supervision and will make recommendations for termination of employees
  • Develop and implement employee development plans for program employees
  • Ensure staff compliance with program policies and procedures
  • Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory

  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Programs, Chief Operating Officer, or CEO

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in business/social work or related field preferred
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in nonprofit setting working with at least 3 years of experience in management
  • License and Credentials
    • Must be 21 years of age or older
    • Reliable transportation
    • Valid driver license and clean driving record
    • Valid vehicle insurance
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in nonprofit setting working with at least 3 years of experience in management
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Must be flexible, self-directed, and goal oriented
  • Knowledge and experience working in a social service setting strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work in culturally sensitive manner with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of HIPPA and confidentiality standards
  • Knowledge of operational procedures of Community Centers or other comparable facilities preferred
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
  • Must have good written and verbal skills.
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position includes 40% local and 5% overnight
