Vice President of Finance/CFO

General Purpose:

The Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for all financial elements of corporations (Judson Services, Inc., Judson, South Franklin Circle, Judson Home Care, Judson Foundation), including planning, budgeting, treasury management, financial reporting and staffing of the Finance Department. The CFO conducts all organizational business and practices in accordance with legal and ethical standards and prepares financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The CFO also oversees the Information Technology (IT) department and assists in the strategic vision of the organization and operations on a regular basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide President & CEO, Board of Directors with financial and analytical reports, forecasts, and projections for making sound financial decisions in a timely manner.
  2. Provide financial and analytical reports to the Finance committee of the Board to enable it to monitor the Corporation’s financial condition, provide guidance in financial matters and strategic planning for financial issues, and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for issues requiring Board approval and/or resolutions.
  3. Provide supervision of finance personnel, including hiring, direction, leadership, evaluation, and salary adjustments.
  4. Implement optimum internal control to the extent possible considering the number of employees available to separate functions.
  5. Maintain effective control and/or security for cash and investments, physical assets, and electronic data.
  6. Advise the President & CEO and organization managers with respect to issues affecting the financial condition of the corporations.
  7. Maintain, administer, and develop sound financial policies and procedures.
  8. Coordinate the provision of information technology services with the information technology department or outsourced vendor relationships.
  9. Provide special reports and/or analysis as may be requested by the President & CEO.
  10. Assess resident/potential resident financial resources for payment of residential and other services provided by the organization and potential subsidy considerations.
  11. Oversee the Organization’s annual consolidated financial statement audit, annual 403b Plan financial statement audit, preparation of annual Federal Form 990’s, Federal Form 5500’s, and Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports.
  12. Supervise and assist in the preparation of the annual operating, cash flow, and capital budgets.
  13. Coordinate periodic Board Designated Fund and 403b Plan Investment Advisor investment performance presentations to the Finance Committee and Foundation Board.
  14. Coordinate annual renewals of various insurance coverages for P&C, Medical Benefits, and Workers Compensation.
  15. Oversee and review prospective resident’s financial analysis for adequacy of financial resources and participate as a member of the Admissions Committee in the determination of whether the prospective resident qualifies for admission as a resident.
  16. Assist the payroll manager in bi-weekly review and audit of payroll for processing and continued automation of the payroll process.
  17. Ability to be hands-on and work with and in other departments as needed to drive the business forward from a financial and operational stance.
  18. Assist Executive Directors in the ongoing financial considerations of their campuses for strategic alignment.
  19. Participate in collaborative strategic planning with Organization Board and Corporate leadership team.
  20. Miscellaneous: Maintain a record of acceptable attendance and punctuality. Observe all company rules and safety procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Certifications:

Bachelor of Business Administration; ten or more years’ experience in health care accounting and management. CPA preferred but not required.
