The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $171,512 - $214,391.
Provides legal counsel and advice to the Company on matters relating to the construction of offshore wind projects, including the Company's Vineyard Wind 1 project, currently in construction off the coast of Massachusetts. Advises the company on complex legal matters relating to the negotiation and drafting of construction and procurement contracts for offshore wind projects and resolution of construction disputes. Monitors, negotiates, and drafts construction and procurement documents, including change orders, variations, contract amendments and similar agreements. Prosecutes or manages, as necessary, litigation and arbitration involving the Company and, in particular, matters involving offshore wind project construction.
Responsibilities Include
- Provide legal counsel and advice to the offshore wind business, with a focus on construction and procurement matters.
- Preferred candidate has some combination of the following:
- Experience with renewable energy development and construction;
- Experience working on large and complex infrastructure projects;
- Spanish language proficiency;
- Litigation, arbitration and/or mediation experience.
- Reviews and drafts contracts and other legal documents to which Avangrid Renewables and its affiliates are a party, including NDAs, consultant agreements, corporate guaranties, and routine construction and procurement contracts.
- Reviewing and drafting other commercial contracts and other legal instruments to which the Company is a party and providing other legal support to the commercial team and senior management.
Requirements
- Located in Boston, Massachusetts.
- At least 8 years of experience as an attorney, including counseling a renewable energy company or similar infrastructure developers.
- J.D. degree; Massachusetts Bar Admission or ability to waive into Massachusetts bar.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Excellent legal drafting skills.
- Ability to lead and manage multiple projects, work independently, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to securely handle sensitive, confidential, and privileged information.
- Able to research and analyze complex business issues, statutes and case law.
- Able to analyze complex legal issues, advise business and development teams and manage and implement appropriate corporate response. Occasional travel.
