Position SummaryThe NYU School of Professional Studies (SPS) is seeking a Career Development Counselor who will guide, advise, and support students through the career planning, decision-making, and job searching processes. This individual will assist students in evaluating their professional interests and skills and developing goals at all stages in their professional and academic careers. Other responsibilities include developing career programs, including planning, marketing, implementation, and assessment of program effectiveness and student outcomes. This role will also work closely with employers to assist them with talent needs utilizing employer resources available (in-person and virtual offerings) from job postings, recruiter-in-residence, resume books, career fairs/industry expos, social media initiatives, as well as involvement in employer forums, conferences, career development panels, and programs. Strong interpersonal skills.Prefer career expertise and knowledge reflecting the current job market, and skills and knowledge in using AI tools for job search and professional development. Mandarin fluency and a coaching certification from an ICF-accredited institution are a plus.QualificationsRequired Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Master's Degree in a related field.Required Experience:2+ years relevant experience in career services, career counseling, student personnel, human resources, recruitment, admissions or related field and equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience implementing programs, seminars, events, and preparing training materials.Preferred Experience:Industry experience representative of NYU SPS programs. Experience working with international students and professionals in the workforce.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Career planning, assessment, and job search expertise. Excellent communication, presentation, writing and organizational skills. Ability to deal with a diverse population at all levels.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Experience working with international students and professionals in the workforce. Experience using social media platforms and understanding surveys and assessment.Additional InformationIn compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $79,310.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
