ERG is searching for highly motivated entry- to mid-level engineers to support our ongoing environmental enforcement work. Our enforcement group includes a wide range of services to state and federal agency clients, including field inspections, evidence analysis and handling, and other law enforcement investigation activities. This position requires the candidate to be local to ERG’s Chantilly, Virginia office.
Candidates must be willing and able to be at the Chantilly, VA, office on short notice, though telework may be considered for some of the duties covered by this position.
Job Description:- Evaluate vehicles, engines, parts, and components for compliance with environmental regulations
- Evaluate refinery and renewable fuel production processes for compliance with environmental regulations
- Conduct facility inspections and desktop investigations to assess compliance with fuel, vehicle, engine, and other environmental regulations
- Assess emission rates and estimate environmental impacts from mobile source activities
- Conduct fuel and other environmental media sampling and analysis
- Data entry and analysis using spreadsheet and database software
- Write technical inspection and evaluation reports
- Automotive background or mechanical skills
- Fuels for internal combustion engines and/or Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
- Must be located in the northern Virginia area and can commute to ERG’s Chantilly, VA office
- Willing and able to travel nationally for projects that require it
- Coursework or experience in petroleum refining and processing, renewable fuel production, internal combustion, vehicle and engine design, and vehicle and engine emission control technologies (e.g., catalytic converters, onboard diagnostics (OBD))
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, including mobile sources
- Technical writing experience
- Experience in mechanical, laboratory, field science, etc. preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
