POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides clerical support to Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee by setting patient appointments, maintaining records and providing customer service.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education / Training:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Workplace Experience:
One year medical office experience and ability to communicate well
Equipment and Skills Training:
Competent in the use of computers, printers, facsimile machines, copy machines, business phones, document scanners and other office equipment and supplies.
Physical Environment:
Office environment.
Physical Effort:
Must be able to sit, stand, communicate in English, both verbally and in written form, squat, reach overhead, operate a computer/keyboard and heard instruction as appropriate.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  1. Schedules appointments appropriately in Allscripts and Meditech
  2. Maintains current patient information
  3. Provides simple medical advice under the direction of the physician
  4. Provides patients with info on HIPPA and insures compliance
  5. Maintains patient records
  6. Insures patients are informed of changes in office policies
  7. Scans patient paperwork/records
  8. Follows proper lifting techniques to prevent back injury
  9. Consistently verifies patient insurance information
  10. Follows scheduling instructions
  11. Consistently verifies insurance for eligibility and pre-certification if need
  12. Maintains open line of communication with all staff
