Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will provide support and guidance to individuals with mental health and substance abuse challenges. Your role will involve using your own lived experience to inspire hope, promote recovery, and assist individuals in achieving their goals.
Duties:
- Provide peer support services to individuals with mental health and substance abuse challenges
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate situations and provide immediate support
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address behavioral health concerns
- Assist individuals in developing coping strategies and skills for managing their mental health
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans
- Serve as a mentor and advocate for individuals, helping them navigate the healthcare system
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to inspire positive change and promote recovery
- Provide education on mental health, addiction, and recovery to individuals and their families
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of all interactions and services provided
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid certification as a Peer Specialist
- Previous experience in crisis management or mental health counseling is preferred
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health principles and practices
- Familiarity with addiction counseling and recovery support services
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with individuals
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of social work systems and community resources is a plus
