We’re looking for a dedicated Field Service Specialist to bring their expertise to our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting blend of hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and opportunities for growth in the HVAC industry.

Your Role:

As a Field Service Specialist, you’ll be at the forefront of our operations, ensuring seamless startup, commissioning, and maintenance of Armstrong’s innovative products and solutions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Field Service Activities:

  • Hands-On Expertise: Lead the startup and commissioning of Armstrong equipment, including Variable Frequency Drives and Control Panels.
  • Proficient understanding of optimization equipment and solutions for achieving maximum efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair issues with our diverse range of equipment, from pumps to automated valves.
  • Connectivity: Assist with connecting site equipment to the Internet or customer networks.
  • Reporting & Training: Document your work through our online portal, provide on-site training to operators, and share field service insights with our After Sales team.
  • Customer Engagement: Build strong relationships with clients, demonstrating the value of Armstrong’s products and identifying opportunities for additional sales.
  • Sales-oriented mindset with proven ability to leverage and use CRM tools for effective sales opportunity tracking. Identify replacement or upgrade sales opportunities and log these leads in CRM, working closely with sales to drive service opportunities.
  • Travel: Expect to travel within the Western region up to 60% of the time, with occasional trips to other parts of the USA. The candidate should be located in Los Angeles, CA


Customer Service Activities:

  • Customer Support: Handle service requests, complaints, and startup inquiries via calls and emails. Schedule and manage service visits effectively.
  • On-Call Rotation: Be part of a team providing after-hours support to address urgent service issues.

Training Responsibilities:

  • Educate: Conduct training sessions for service and installation teams, as well as for mechanical contractors, to enhance their knowledge of Armstrong products and solutions.
  • Report Analysis: Compile and review field reports to ensure equipment performance and warranty adherence.

Technical Support:

  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, project management, and sales teams to support product development and project-specific initiatives.
  • Feedback: Identify and report on product issues and contribute to process and design improvements.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

  • Education: Degree or designation in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Application Engineering, or a related field, with equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Drives, control panels, BAS systems, and automation. Familiarity with serial communications is a plus.
  • Hands-On Experience: Proven experience with mechanical pumps and HVAC systems.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in commercial construction is desirable, along with a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of hydronic HVAC systems, Variable Frequency Drives, Building Automation Controls, and Optimization is preferred.
