Job Description 30623 - HEAD OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

At Eni, we are looking for a Head of Mechanical Engineering within our Branch in Qatar. You will be responsible for overseeing mechanical engineering activities in the NFW Onshore Project for Packages, ensuring all technical requirements are in full compliance with project requirements and standardized processes and are delivered to the highest technical quality standards.

You will provide clear guidance to the FEED contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors and facilitate resolution of mechanical technical issues, to complete mechanical engineering activities to meet project objectives and milestones. Additionally, you will provide ad hoc field engineering assistance during start-up and early operation phases.

As a member of the North Field West Onshore Project, you will be responsible for:

  1. Ensuring execution of work is technically aligned and in compliance with Qatargas Operations, Policies, Standards of Business Conduct, and Qatgas Project Management System (QGPMS).
  2. Leading mechanical engineering design and planning activities for Packages, ensuring the FEED contractor develops detailed design in accordance with local regulatory requirements, industry standards, project specifications, and any approved variations.
  3. Resolving mechanical discipline issues to ensure engineering design addresses NFW Project's expectations and objectives.
  4. Communicating and elevating issues before they escalate to Project Management when necessary.
  5. Reviewing technical aspects of Mechanical Packages purchase orders with FEED Contractor and vendors in accordance with the roles and responsibilities stated in applicable contract(s) to ensure safe and seamless integration of new mechanical equipment into the existing operating facilities (when applicable).
  6. Assessing plans and work schedules to ensure effective completion of project activities and providing data (narrative, charts, graphs), change management recommendations and recovery plans to address any schedule delays.
  7. Developing, updating, and amending design/project philosophies, specifications, and procedures, ensuring that all references to Mechanical Engineering are current and relevant.
  8. Monitoring and providing guidance to FEED Contractor to ensure key deliverables and progress/milestones are met.
  9. Recommending additional technical support where necessary to address gaps.
  10. Coordinating and analysing issues for resolution.
  11. Providing mechanical engineering input to other engineering disciplines, construction, procurement, etc., as necessary.
  12. Supporting commissioning, start-up and system completing activities and making appropriate recommendations to management on mechanical matters.
  13. Planning and scheduling Package Mechanical Engineering deliverables to enable efficient execution in meeting project milestones/schedule.
  14. Contributing to Safety analysis studies and providing the required input to support project management in key decisions making.
  15. Participating in sharing lessons learned, together with capturing current lessons learned to benefit future projects.

This is the opportunity for you if you have these skills and requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in Mechanical Engineering, preferably in a major LNG Project.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering execution, including design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria, onshore LNG facilities, and utility systems design, construction, and operations.
  • Demonstrated broad static mechanical equipment and systems experience.
  • Proficient in the English language.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Strong technical, prioritisation, and management skills.
  • Strong communication and team working skills.
  • Good communication, influencing, and interface skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
