Position Summary

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Human Resources Manager (HR Manager) to oversee critical aspects of human resources management within our organization. As the HR Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, while also overseeing employee onboarding, day-to-day operations, and talent retention initiatives. You will conduct training sessions on company policies, programs, and relevant HR issues, and provide coaching to employees to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a strong communicator, and passionate about supporting the growth and success of our schools and staff.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Compliance and Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and objectives, ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws, regulations, and charter school policies.
  • Identify and address staff training and development needs, coordinating professional development opportunities and training sessions on company policy, programs, and relevant HR issues.
  • Provide reliable and timely coaching to employees on HR matters to ensure consistent, transparent application of policies, procedures, and employment laws.
  • Manage employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and resolving conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and fosters collaboration.
  • Oversee the Talent Coordinator, providing guidance on recruitment strategies, credentialing compliance, and talent initiatives.

Data and Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, preparing and submitting required HR reports and filings promptly.
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Oversee the administration of our HRIS system, maintaining data accuracy and integrity in employee records.
  • Conduct internal audits as needed to ensure adherence to HR policies and practices.
  • Stay updated on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law.

Strategic Planning and Leadership

  • Participate in strategic planning activities to support organizational growth and success, collaborating with leadership to develop HR strategies aligned with objectives.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries and escalate potential legal, risk, and safety concerns to appropriate staff, as necessary.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Employee Onboarding and Talent Development

  • Lead comprehensive onboarding processes, coordinating the smooth transition of new hires into the organization.
  • Manage background checks and employee verifications, ensuring compliance with hiring requirements.
  • Manage employee files, documents, and correspondence accurately.
  • Support the effectiveness and innovation of new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Contribute to team efforts and maintain a professional demeanor to set a positive example for the entire AMPS staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar) is highly desirable.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR management or related roles.
  • Proficiency in HRIS, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Previous experience in education or nonprofit environments, preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of desk work and computer use.
  • Motor coordination and finger dexterity for keyboarding and other tasks.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to twenty pounds.
  • Ability to access and navigate various facilities within the organization.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$105,000. Salary is commensurate with experience, education, and expertise. A competitive benefits package is also offered.

This is a full-time, exempt, 100% in-person position.
