This role is remote Monday - Friday with a schedule that will be determined with the team.

In this role you will help the department with understanding how our EHR is currently operating by:

  1. More swiftly identifying patterns and trends that help tailor solutions to meet the needs of clinical end users.
  2. Improve end user experiences by better understanding challenges and deficits in charting tools.
  3. Develop effective strategies to solve gaps in processes that can be improved through documentation enhancements/technology.
  4. Proactively identify areas of opportunities guided by the validity of data as opposed to relying on intuition and industry experiences.
  5. Assess the success or additional opportunities post implementation.
  6. Underscore opportunities to maximize existing technology.
  7. Make faster, better-informed decisions that are grounded in tangible evidence.
  8. Better align work efforts with Annual/Long-term initiatives and overall long-term vision of the Enterprise.
  9. Better understand root causes to problems to implement sustainable solutions.

This is an analytical role that requires:

  1. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Cerner Clinical Documentation.
  2. A solid understanding of data sources, data organization, and storage.
  3. In-depth knowledge of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques.
  4. Strong IT and mathematical skills.
  5. SQL, Cerner Command Language, Dataverse, Visual Basic experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the coordination, collection, and analysis of relevant financial, business, and/or statistical data to prepare and interpret reports to support the Perioperative and Nursing Informatics teams. This position provides maintenance/updates as necessary to ensure the integrity of key performance indicators, databases, reports, analysis, as well as ensures department/function processes and standards are met in a timely and accurate manner. This role will be an expert in healthcare data analytics and possess superior analytical and interviewing skills for assigned specialty service areas. This position will possess an ability to develop analytical tools as well as the skill to educate various team members and leaders on the uses.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Gathers data from various sources to document, trend and analyze data necessary to complete projects in assigned area. Generates various reports that enable Perioperative and Nursing Informatics to problem-solve, control, and analyze operations.
  2. In-depth knowledge of workflows/operations for assigned specialty service line(s), and an ability to articulate this knowledge in the form of data. Works with internal and external customers as a subject matter expert for assigned specialty area, informatics leadership, informatics support team and other key stakeholders.
  3. Works with management and staff of various departments to assist with data gathering and/or interpretation. Ensures accuracy of information systems and maintenance of reporting. Ensures the integrity of statistical files and databases used for process improvements, increased safety measures, financial and other business reporting purposes.
  4. Works with other analytics departments to identify and solve problems as well as to validate trending of business-related data. Provides data modeling resources for special projects assigned to the department by management for analysis.
  5. Prepares timely and accurate reports and presentations that are reasonably free from error for internal and/or external customers/stakeholders to satisfy mandated reporting requirements, law or management. Maintains accurate statistical, contractual or other departmental databases, as assigned.
  6. Depending on assignment, serves as a lead or subject matter expert, which includes the initiation and assistance in identification and implementation of operating improvements and efficiencies by identifying important trends and variances through the review of management reports and financial analysis. Educates Informatics Leadership, Informatics support team and other end-users of the assigned reporting system on the utilization of reports and correlating functionality.
  7. May be assigned to supervise the use of reporting tools. This includes selecting, training and conducting performance management for department staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess strong knowledge as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in related business discipline or equivalent combination of data programming, technical, business and healthcare experience. Must possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, workflows and practices.

Requires a proficiency level typically attained with two to three years of experience performing financial, analytical and/or statistical work, preferably in a healthcare and or critical care setting. Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with changing needs and deadlines. Requires excellent human relations skills and the ability to effectively interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels staff and outside professionals.

Requires strong abilities in statistical analysis, data interpretation, computer software applications, database, and spreadsheet programs, plus a strong proficiency in SQL database programming and VBA programming.

Requires the skill and ability to gather complex requirements (“problems to be solved”) for stakeholders (high-level stakeholders as well as the report’s end-users) and use these requirements to help design data structures and reports to meet these needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

SQL database programming experience performing financial, analytical and/or statistical work, preferably in a healthcare and or surgical setting. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
