The Lead Clinician assists the Practice Manager in overseeing the delivery of our trusted brand of service, the Sono Bello patient experience, and the efficient operations of daily clinical activities. They are seen as the clinical team lead, driving an effective and efficient daily flow resulting in strong KPI output and high team member satisfaction. The Lead Clinician responsibilities are balanced in tandem with the responsibilities of their core role as a member of the center clinical team defined by their licensure (ex. RN, LPN).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generally designated as the Safety Officer in the clinic.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organization’s emergency operations plan and the role of the registered nurse in an emergency/disaster situation.
  • Generally designated as the Infection Control Officer in the clinic.
  • Applies knowledge of policies and procedures related to OSHA standards including, but not limited to: infection control, risk management, hazardous communications and environmental safety. Applies knowledge of standard precautions, hand hygiene, transmission-based precautions and personal protective equipment.
  • Outstanding performance against the team member’s core role within the center, as defined by their licensure. The time split performing the Lead Clinician and core role responsibilities is expected to be approximately 50/50.
  • Supports day-to-day clinical activities in an accredited outpatient surgical facility, including delivery of quality care and maintaining and overseeing the efficiency of clinical operations.
  • Assists the Practice Manager to build and communicate an effective nurse schedule. Establishes optimal clinical assignments that balance maximizing transformation surgery output with team member satisfaction; metrics to include clinic-on time starts, OR turnarounds, and on time appointment starts.
  • Ability to access, review, and align company technology platforms (ex. Zenoti and CPB) to support operational efficiency.
  • Acts with integrity to maintain patient confidentiality and always ensure HIPAA compliance while maintaining PHI disclosure records.
  • Extensive knowledge of the companies’ policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of standard precautions, hand hygiene, transmission-based precautions, and personal protective equipment.
  • Enforces policy adherence consistent with AAAHC guidelines to maintain superb Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI).
  • Oversight of QA/QI reporting.
  • Attends and participates in scheduled clinic and corporate meetings including staff education, in-services, and clinic staff meetings. Meetings that require minutes to be signed off will be owned by the lead clinician to ensure they huddle with the team to relay the information and get all sign offs.
  • AAAHC preparedness and associated files are kept up to date with appropriate information.
  • Performs chart audits including patient photos - responsible for clinical team member follow up and education as required.
  • Advises and serves as a role model for clinical staff regarding patient care and clinical tasks, including: policy, procedure, SOPs, and Accreditation.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships across all Team Members within the center, including communication and meeting cadence, building best practices, and displaying excellent judgement.
  • Participates in interviewing and hiring all clinical candidates with the Practice Manager.
  • Assists the Practice Manager with onboarding new clinicians, including setting up their onboarding schedule, assigning most appropriate preceptor(s), and following up with the new hire regularly to ensure successful onboarding.
  • Becomes a certified as a “training mentor.”
  • Laser Safety (please refer to Laser Safety Policy for a detailed description of duties):
  • This duty is dependent on clinic staffing levels and individual State requirements. Generally, there is only one Laser Safety Officer (LSO) per clinic; therefore, this duty may not be applicable to this position or individual job.
  • Lead Clinician will demonstrate competence and proficiency in the field of laser safety and perform the duties of LSO. This includes adhering to and maintaining high standards of laser safety in the clinical setting.
  • Establishment of appropriate criteria and authorized procedures for all health care personnel working in laser hazard zones.
  • Identification of laser hazards and appropriate control measures.
  • Education of personnel (i.e. operators and others) regarding assessment and control of hazards. Education programs should be specific to laser systems used and procedures performed in the facility.
  • Management and reporting of accidents or incidents related to laser procedures, including action plans to prevent recurrences.
  • Lead Clinician to oversee that all personnel working in laser environments should demonstrate competency commensurate with their responsibilities.
  • All people should know where lasers are being used, and access to these areas should be controlled.
  • All people in the laser treatment area should be protected from unintentional laser beam exposure.
  • All people in the nominal hazard zone should wear appropriate eyewear approved by the LSO.
  • Personnel working in the laser environment should avoid exposure to smoke plume generated during laser surgery.
  • All people in the laser treatment area should be protected from electrical hazards associated with laser use.
  • All people in the laser treatment area should be protected from flammability hazards associated with laser use.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Preferred LPN/ RN licensure, at minimum MA/ST qualification.
  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred but not required.
  • Two or more years of clinical experience is required.
  • Must maintain ACLS certification.
  • 1-2 years of clinical leadership a plus.
  • Experience in Cosmetic Practice or previous Medical Office Management a plus.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
