Endoscopy Technician
Days/On Call Requirement
Full Time/36-hour week

Summary:
Under supervision, provides support to endoscopy procedures by setting up procedure rooms with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies. Functions to assist physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on patients in the endoscopy suite.
Formal Education Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist or Medical Assistant program preferred

Experience & Training Required

• One (1) year experience in an acute care setting
• Recent (or previous) endoscopy experience preferred

Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications

• Possess or ability to obtain BLS certification or certification within first month of employment

Level of Physical Demands

• Heavy : Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects
• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Requires lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Requires Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and/or working irregular hours
• Requires exposure to communicable disease, blood, body fluids, sharps, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment; risks of falls, strains, etc.
