Job Summary
Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Lab Technician Senior (Specially Funded). This position plays a pivotal role in laboratory operations, responsible for maintaining equipment inventory, performing preventative maintenance, documenting standard operating procedures, and overseeing supply inventory and purchasing. This position works closely with the Lab Coordinator, faculty, and staff, the Lab Technician ensures optimal classroom learning experiences through equipment preparation and assistance with hands-on lab activities as required.
This position is located at West-MEC Southwest Campus, 500 North Verrado Way, Buckeye, AZ 85326
Essential Functions
60% - Provides lab assistance including equipment inventory, preventative maintenance, standard operating procedures, training documentation, supply/consumable goods inventory and purchasing. Ensures that all lab experiences are conducted following all necessary safety protocols.
20% - In collaboration with faculty and staff, assists with and develops policies and procedures for advanced manufacturing labs in relation to instructional programs. Monitors program guidelines and ensures compliance with applicable policies, regulations, laws, maintenance/repair schedules of instructional programs including, but not limited to, the safe and efficient operation of the lab and equipment.
20% - Coordinates with Lab Supervisor, program faculty and staff in the set-up and delivery of classroom learning activities. Ensures that all equipment and supplies are in good working condition and ready for use. Assists with lab experiences as needed. Other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience such as providing assistance to students in an instructional setting; and/or preparing, maintaining and delivering equipment, supplies or other related instructional materials used for laboratory activities in the area of assignment.
OR
High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience such as providing assistance to students in an instructional setting; and/or preparing, maintaining and delivering equipment, supplies or other related instructional materials used for laboratory activities in the area of assignment.
Desired Qualifications
A. Experience working in a lab setting for an industrial manufacturing program or work experience in an industrial manufacturing organization or related industry
B. Experience developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for highly technical equipment as well as standard operating procedures and training documents of learning environment
C. OSHA certification
D. Experience with basic electrical and/or mechanical skills
E. Experience providing basic equipment repair
F. Certification in lab safety-based training
Special Working Conditions
This position will mainly work in the afternoons/evenings and support evening classes but schedule can be coordinated with the supervisor.
May need to lift heavy objects up to 50 lb and move equipment with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving:
Weekends may be required as needed.
