About Us: The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010 and the leading funder of patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research in the US. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers, and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed healthcare decisions.


Position Summary: As Director of Award Development & Implementation (ADI), you will report to the Chief Officer, Program Operations, and oversee a high-performing and mission-driven team. This role requires effective management and collaboration across various divisions of PCORI.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Leadership: Develop collaborations across programmatic divisions and lead new funding opportunity initiatives.
  • Oversight and Management of ADI Team: Oversee professional development and ensure consistency in funding opportunities.
  • Award/Funding Policies: Lead the formulation and compliance monitoring of PCORI policies related to award activities.
  • Visibility in Sector: Build strategic relationships with nonprofit health research funders and represent PCORI at relevant events.

Required Skills:

  • Team Leadership: Cultivate an environment of trust and respect.
  • Strategic Evaluation and Process Improvement: Lead the evaluation of award funding processes.
  • Change Management: Design and execute change management strategies.

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years in research funding programmatic leadership.
  • Doctorate or professional degree in a relevant field desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing staff and leading teams.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $161,452 - $242,178
