Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Accounting is responsible for our Cost and Fixed Asset Teams. This role ensures the integrity of the Company’s applicable financial statement balances and disclosures, and creates analytical and reporting capabilities. The position is accountable for the development and coaching of staff. The ideal candidate will have a record of improving, automating, and streamlining procedures while consistently achieving corporate financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting standards, internal policies and financial reporting for Fixed Assets and Inventory.
  2. Safeguard assets and ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing and managing internal controls across all departments.
  3. Manage the accuracy and productivity of inventory integrity, cost accounting, and reserves.
  4. Issue timely monthly financial records for Executive Management and Berkshire Hathaway.
  5. Lead regular audits to validate and verify fixed assets.
  6. Lead cost accounting for both book and tax records.
  7. Engage in regular communication with Supply Chain and FP&A, as well as Plant Managers and Engineers.
  8. Lead, develop and update written policies and procedures over the close and reporting process.
  9. Train, lead, and develop staff.
  10. Implement best practices along with periodic evaluation of existing fixed assets business applications, processes and controls to drive efficiencies.
  11. Lead weekly meetings on inventory production with the Operations Planning team and Procurement to understand financial implications.
  12. Provide and develop technical accounting expertise within the department.
  13. Develop financial analysis tools to evaluate special projects, programs, product costing, etc., when necessary.
  14. Ensure department provides the highest level of customer service both internally and externally.
  15. Perform other ad-hoc projects as necessary and present findings to senior management and key stakeholders.

Required Skills:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 7+ years' accounting experience. Big 4 plus public company financial reporting experience preferred.
  2. CPA, CMA and/or MBA.
  3. Strong technical US GAAP accounting knowledge and knowledge of local statutory reporting.
  4. Knowledge of best practices in internal controls and financial reporting.
  5. Must be highly analytical and inquisitive with strong organizational abilities, keen attention to detail, and ability to meet monthly deadlines and goals.
  6. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; proficient in Excel, Access, and Word.
  7. Knowledge of SAP, BPC and Business Objects a plus.
  8. Excellent organizational, managerial, interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, ability to work in a team-based, continuous improvement environment.
  9. Strong Business Acumen and ability to interpret and explain financial results and trends.
  10. Expected travel up to 5% in US and Canada, no extended projects. Weekend work as needed.
  11. Knowledge of manufacturing accounting and variance analysis.
