The Technical Project Manager for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is primarily responsible for leading the core team that drives the sustaining engineering project funnel for Microbiology hardware. You will also be the project manager for any complex design change projects that the team is working on, helping drive the project from feasibility to field implementation. This position will be 60% project management activities & 40% engineering activities.

This position is part of the Microbiology Business Unit located in West Sacramento, California and will be on-site. The manufacturing of the instruments is located at a Beckman Coulter facility in Miami with travel to the site a few times a year.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  1. Lead the cross functional team for prioritizing and managing the backlog of the hardware sustaining engineering project funnel.
  2. Act as the project manager on complex projects involving external suppliers, procurement, manufacturing, product marketing, quality, regulatory and service.
  3. Manage budgets, schedules, resources, project risks, and key project deliverables.
  4. Provide regular updates to the leadership team on health of funnel and status of projects.
  5. Lead some relatively simple re-design projects to stay connected to your engineering background.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics or related Engineering with preference for 9+ years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in field with preference for 7+ years of relevant experience.
  2. Experience in design, development and sustaining of complex hardware instruments.
  3. Experience in managing projects in a regulated environment.
  4. Experience in projects where you have demonstrated critical business acumen.
  5. Experience in PCB schematic, layout, component selection, cabling, and assembly design.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  1. Microbiology or Automated Diagnostic Product Development.
  2. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP).
  3. Experience working with internal and external R&D teams.
  4. Visual project management.

The salary range for this role is $130,000-$155,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
