The successful candidate will join Tax Executives Institute (TEI) , the preeminent association of in-house tax professionals worldwide, and support organizational growth and expand TEI’s marketing and communications capabilities. This new position will report to the Director of Marketing, Communications & Events, and receive direct guidance from the Marketing & Communications Manager to develop and execute multiple, concurrently running marketing and communications campaigns, leveraging various formats and platforms to support departmental goals and initiatives across TEI (events, membership and chapter relations, publications, governance and legal).

Background   

 

Tax Executives Institute was founded in 1944 by 15 corporate tax executives in New York City and is dedicated to improving the tax system in a principled, effective manner. Since its founding, TEI has grown into a global organization of over 6,500 members representing over 2,800 leading businesses in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. TEI serves its members by providing continuing education, networking, advocacy, and other opportunities to help advance their careers and the tax profession.  

 

Position Description and Primary Roles & Responsibilities        

General and Social Media Marketing 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing campaigns to support various TEI departmental goals and initiatives; incorporate graphics and layout design for emails, social posts, etc.  
  • Create and manage a marketing calendar for all marketing and communication activities across TEI, including email, social posts, digital ads, etc. for TEI Institute-level events, membership initiatives (acquisition and renewal), and all other areas that marketing supports 
  • Write engaging and impactful content for marketing campaigns (delivery in multiple formats), web and landing pages, press releases, news articles posting announcements, etc.  
  • Manage TEI’s social media accounts across outlets (LinkedIn, Instagram, Spotify), including creating and gathering content, and writing captions 
  • Analyze social media campaigns, compile monthly social media performance reports, and adapt marketing tactics 
  • Maintain accurate and targeted email marketing lists, leveraging TEI’s ZoomInfo and HubSpot platforms for new member prospecting and campaign/ content management and execution     
  • Assist with sponsor marketing promotional material and sponsor website presence. 
  • Maintain compliance with brand standards across materials 
  • Work with external creative resources (graphic designers, print vendors, and digital and publishing agencies) to produce high-quality marketing assets in both print and digital formats 
  • Create and maintain marketing toolkits for TEI’s Chapters and Regions 
  • Collaborate on digital media content production, video, shorts, etc.  
  • Implement aspects of TEI’s publication strategy, including posting advocacy submissions, liaison meeting recaps, new staff & promotions, upcoming events, leadership appointments, award summaries, and news articles across various TEI formats (Website / LinkedIn / Tax Executive magazine) 
  • Collate and proof content for Tax Executive magazine, TEI’s bi-monthly publication 

 

Website Maintenance  

  • Responsible for ensuring TEI’s website is up-to-date, accurate, and engaging. 
  • Serve as point of contact for website content updates and ensure that content is accurate and updated and all links and redirects are functioning properly for a professional appearance 
  • Assist with creating content based on branding guidelines and organizational goals 
  • Make recommendations for improving the aesthetics and functionality of the website

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills   

  • BA/BS degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business or a related degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience  
  • Record of excellence in written communication and writing experience for all media platforms 
  • Established social networking expertise 
  • Experience in supporting the creation of and executing a comprehensive organizational marketing strategy, tracking results, and adjusting approaches depending on outcomes 
  • Experience with the full Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, SharePoint, Zoom and other virtual platforms, Association Management System platforms (TEI uses Netforum), business analytics software, Zoominfo, Hubspot, Drupal, Canva, and other related Marketing and Communications tools  
  • Problem-solver with the ability to think critically - taking on multiple complex challenges and initiatives simultaneously with optimism and a helpful attitude   
  • Detail-oriented and organized - superior time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks   
  • Ability to build relationships - establishing trust with department leadership, the Marcomm and Events team, internal stakeholders, TEI members, and other external stakeholders  
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills – effectively communicating with TEI staff, TEI members, vendors, etc., to help achieve goals  
  • Ability to work in the Washington, DC office on a hybrid schedule.   

 

Travel   

Travel will be required 2-4 times per year to support the Institute’s educational events.

Our office is located at the Metro Center Station in Washington, DC, near shopping, restaurants, and the Red, Orange, Silver, and Blue Lines. 


The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 per year commensurate with experience.
