Senior Product Manager – Vehicle Compute Hardware

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

The newly created Product Management team at General Motors is adding a Senior Product Manager position that will be focused on Vehicle Compute Hardware. There is a lot of opportunity for this role to make a substantial contribution to overall success of the organization. The Vehicle Compute Hardware team is a key enabler for General Motors Software and Services strategy.

The Role:

As the Senior Product Manager for Vehicle Compute Hardware , you will be responsible for developing, managing, and driving product initiatives across the organization. This also includes working with cross-functional teams, conducting market research, and collaborating with other teams to ensure the successful launch of new products. The role requires strong analytical skills, communication ability, and a passion for delivering exceptional products that meet customer needs.

What You’ll do:

  1. Lead and collaborate with a large set of stakeholders to identify, build, and test customer value propositions.
  2. Understand your customer better than anyone else by creating and analyzing software related to dealership and vehicle data.
  3. Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap based on customer needs and market trends.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales, to ensure product goals and priorities align.
  5. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify market opportunities and potential threats.
  6. Define and track key metrics using KPCs and KPIs to measure product success and inform future decisions.
  7. Communicate product updates, progress, and plans to stakeholders across the organization, including executives, customers, and partners.
  8. Manage product launches, including developing go-to-market strategies and coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches.
  9. Conduct post-launch analysis to evaluate product performance and identify areas for improvement.
  10. Continuously iterate and improve the product based on user feedback, market trends, and business goals.
  11. Communicate complex subjects in a simple and straightforward way.
  12. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior product team members, sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics.
  2. 5+ years of experience in Electrical Hardware Engineering including high-end Compute Platforms.
  3. 2+ years of Product Management experience including Roadmap Definitions, Benchmarking (competitors and new technologies) and Program Execution.
  4. Strong interpersonal and networking skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels of the company.
  5. Deep understanding of hardware and software development.
  6. Industry knowledge and expertise of semiconductors including microprocessors and SOC (system on chip) roadmaps.
  7. Must be a skilled problem solver that utilizes data and experience to identify problems and solutions.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)

  1. 5+ years of hardware-related Product Management experience.
  2. Strong understanding of major automotive systems and subsystems.
  3. Strong understanding of Global Vehicle Development Process and program execution deliverables.
