Applicants are required to include in their cover letter information about how they will further this goal.Posting SummaryAs part of the Division of Strategic Communications (Strat Comm) and embedded within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences ( CALS ), help create, update, and maintain digital communications, social media, and marketing campaigns that raise awareness and help strengthen the brand of UVM and CALS . Work closely with the CALS Director of Strategic Communications and the UVM Strategic Communications team to support external and internal communications and marketing goals through all digital channels. Work with faculty, staff, and students within CALS to create, edit, and publish digital content for external and internal audiences. Support maintenance and improvement needs of the CALS social media channels, newsfeeds, and newsletters. Support other marketing and communications activities as needed. Work independently and on collaborative activities. Utilize media tools, techniques, and methods consistent with university guidelines. Provide recommendations, instruction, and guidance to promote optimum use of services and/or creative outlets consistent with university guidelines. Understand and apply university policies and procedures including (but not limited to) Creative Style Guide, Licensing, ADA /Accessibility, Technology Review, Copyright, and Intellectual Property. Practice exceptional design and visual communication skills, employ excellent written and verbal communications skills, display high attention to detail, and provide responsive internal and external customer service. Develop relationships within CALS , and key institutional partners (Strategic Communications, Enterprise Technology Services, or other campus offices as needed). Reports to Director of Strategic Communications, CALS .Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)Associate’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, digital media, or relevant liberal arts field. One to three years related experience in digital communications roles and/or a portfolio of applicable work in the field.Expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere.Experience with social media tools, techniques, analytics, and reporting.Understanding of visual design principles for social media.Experience with digital content writing and editing.Ability to troubleshoot user issues with social media platforms currently in use.Strong written communications skills.Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Must be able to work independently and as a team member with a diverse group of constituents, including academic and administrative leadership.Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and manage deadlines independently.Candidate must have demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.Desirable QualificationsBachelor’s or master’s degree in design, journalism, film, or marketing.Previous communications work in higher education, corporate communications, or at a creative agency, non-profit, or other decentralized organization.Experience with Google Analytics, SEM Rush, MOZ , and/or other SEO tools.Working knowledge of UX/UI best practices and accessibility requirements for social media.Anticipated Pay Range 25.00-26.00/hrOther InformationThe College of Agriculture and Life Sciences ( CALS ) at the University of Vermont welcomes difference, values collaboration, encourages debate, and stands for integrity, service, and academic excellence.
