Job Summary: The Associate Vice President, HR Strategic Partnerships & Faculty Relations serves as strategic partner to the College(s) Dean(s) and human resources leadership. They will partner with University Human Resources on a full scope of human resource activity, conducts investigations and produce administrative determinations as needed.

The Associate Vice President, HR Strategic Partnerships & Faculty Relations is the lead human resources officer for the college strategic partnerships who assists in the identification, development and implementation of human resource strategic planning and annual goals, human capital management, and human resources policies and procedures. They will direct and provide oversight to academic human resources and all related functions. They will exercise independent judgment in the performance of designated responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership in the area of human capital management; compliance; analytical thinking; creativity and strong decision-making skills are also required.
  • Successful strategies with providing Human Resources support in a multi-stakeholder organization across multiple locations.
  • Risk, control, and compliance operating models in the Human Resources space.
  • Human resources management and practices. Thorough knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources. Learning strategies and blended learning approaches to support a learner-centric experience.
  • Academic personnel processes related to recruitment, appointment, and salary review.
  • Human resources management system and/or other related business software programs and systems. Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems and applications, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Ability to incorporate computer technology to improve processes.
  • Organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional area and understands how work may affect other areas. Proven experience in effectively and accurately interpreting, developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Appropriate administrative and disciplinary actions to manage policy compliance in organized and non-organized areas. Use professional judgment in situations for which there are no established criteria or standards or where answers to problems are not readily apparent and initiate action and solutions. Utilize effective negotiation skills in the performance of functions to produce a satisfactory outcome for all parties concerned.
  • Analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Strong analytical and conceptual abilities to independently evaluate complex issues, formulate options, and develop solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Practices and strategies for investigation, negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, mediation, and arbitration.
  • Strategies identifying and building cross-functional partnerships to understand challenges.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of related work experience.
OR
Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related disciplines.
OR
Juris Doctorate/Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of related work experience.
OR
Equivalent combination of training and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partners closely with peers and stakeholders across the University and Colleges to assess human resources programs, processes, and practices and to identify gaps and inefficiencies, and innovate to enhance the employee experience and support long-term growth objectives.
  • Defines, develops, shapes and implement policy and procedures including but not limited to human resource operations, academic human resources, mentoring and counseling, mediation and negotiation, health and wellness, employee relations, organizational and employee development, and performance management.
  • Conducts thorough and comprehensive investigations to ensure the University’s proactive compliance alignment with relevant federal, state, and local laws, statutes, regulations, and University Policies.
  • Establishes metrics, analyzes and leverages data and best practice insights in monitoring human resource across the College(s), responds to professional and accreditation human resource surveys, and prepares internal and external administrative reports on such topics as faculty workload, benchmarking, employee engagement, cost per hire, labor and economic data, trends and forecasting.
  • Oversees Director, Academic Human Resources on a full scope of Academic Human Resources matters.
  • Collaborates with the Provost Office and College(s) leadership on faculty affairs matters such as promotion and tenure, faculty offers and appointments, and other academic HR issues.
  • Provides professional expertise and remains current with developments in federal, state, local and university, laws, regulations and policies in the HR field affecting higher education employment issues.
  • Plans, assigns and reviews work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Standard business hours, 8am-5pm. Evenings and weekends as needed.

Expected Pay Scale:

Minimum: $185,000.00

Maximum: $210,000.00
