Job Summary:
Job Summary:
Under general direction, performs testing on a variety of electronic products to applicable photometric, photobiological, and laser standards (e.g. IES LM-79, IEC 62471 and IEC 60825) and Energy Efficiency Verification for lighting products (e.g. Energy Star, DLC, CEC Title 24); provides technical training and guidance to junior laboratory staff; performs specialized duties as assigned; plus other lab activities and assignments as required.
Responsibilities:
• Conducts a wide range of test procedures on equipment to the applicable standards and interprets the results of the test.
• Performs tests and calculations, compiles data and summarizes test results into test reports and checklists. Verifies calculations are consistent with results of measurements.
• Assembles and disassembles test samples, hooks-up laboratory test equipment in preparation for testing, and operates most laboratory test equipment without supervision.
• Maintains good housekeeping of tools, equipment and work area following tests and carries out assigned laboratory clean-up duties.
• Notes and records discrepancies or characteristics of products which may appear before or during the tests and refer them to Engineer or Manager.
• Independently analyzes complex devices and equipment to determine compliance to applicable requirements.
• Contributes to the development and implementation of requirements for new and/or revised standards as required.
• May provide training and guidance to lower-level technicians.
• May oversee the work of lower-level technicians.
Education and Experience:
• Technical Certificate or equivalent education and experience
• Associates degree in Engineering Technology OR
• 8-10 years of related experience.
• Advance knowledge of test methods for measuring optical radiation.
• Advance knowledge of Energy Efficiency Verification program requirements for Lighting Products(e.g. Energy Star, DLC, CEC Title 24)
• Experience in operating, maintaining, and calibrating test equipment.
Skills:
• Excel at research, problem-solving and project management.
• Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner.
• Needs to be knowledgeable of safe practices; ability to move equipment around with assistance or independently; follow safety practices;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to teach others, and work independently and as a team player.
• Excellent and effective time and project management skills in order to efficiently handle a variety and multiple project requests in order to meet timelines for completion, and on-time delivery.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively and efficiently with internal customers as well as well as external.
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Suite), as required, learn and be proficient in any test equipment-based software.
The typical hiring range for this position is $75, 000 - $100,000; however, based on a variety of considerations (such as education, licenses, certifications and/or, experience,) CSA Group reserves the right to flexibility outside of the stated range.
