Under the direction of the Executive Director of Sponsored Programs and Research (OSPR), the Associate Director of Sponsored Programs (Pre-Award) supports faculty and staff in the development and submission of sponsored research and programmatic proposals, with a focus on securing external funding for health initiatives and research. This position involves working with Principal Investigators (PIs) and Project Directors (PDs) to develop competitive proposals, ensure compliance with federal agency guidelines, and facilitate the submission process.
Responsibilities:
- Assist PIs/PDs in identifying funding opportunities in health programs innovation and research, particularly from federal agencies such as the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
- Serve as the primary point of contact between faculty, staff, and external funding agencies during the pre-award process.
- Review and edit proposals for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to submission requirements.
- Maintain organized records of all pre-award documentation, ensuring timely submission of proposals and compliance with all grant guidelines and institutional policies.
- Guide faculty and staff through the entire pre-award process, including proposal development, budget preparation, and submission.
- Provide training and resources to faculty and staff on health research grant proposal development, including offering individual consultations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in research grant writing, administration, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the health funding landscape, particularly with federal agencies.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Proficiency in research administration software and grant submission platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting PIs/PDs in the development and submission of research proposals to federal funding agencies.
- Familiarity with GrantHub (or similar) and CRM systems.
- Experience in higher education or research institutions.
- Prior experience with complex, multi-institutional research proposals.

Pay: $58,000 - $62,000 Annually
