POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Life Services Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of a varied activity and educational programs designed to meet the requirements of LCS Lifestyles & Health Services and the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Essential Job Duties:
1. Assists with planning and coordinating activities and events, discussion groups & clubs, one on one activities, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, off-campus outings, special events, in-house movies, intergenerational programing, instructional courses; such as, arts & crafts, seminars, workshops, presentations; Active Aging Week, health & fitness activities, customized activities for Alzheimer/Dementia and Parkinson affected residents, marketing events, holiday parties; etc.
2. Completes monthly calendars and event flyers for scheduled activities.
3. Interviews and develops individual resident assessments to accurately provide recreational programs based on individual needs and resident interest.
4. Coordinates Resident Council and family meetings. Arranges special meetings for residents and families to address special interests and provide educational opportunities.
5. Directs the movement of residents to and from recreational areas on and off campus.
6. Prepares and maintains pertinent reports, studies and schedules in accordance with state and federal regulations.
7. Assists with purchasing and keeping inventory of activity supplies and equipment. Inspects recreational equipment to determine repair and maintenance needs and cleanliness.
8. Directs volunteer activities and provide training as needed.
9. Interprets the goals and objectives of the recreational program to staff, volunteers, relatives, and guests.
10. Maintains accurate documentation of residents’ progress and responses to programs in EMR System.
11. Flexibility of hours will involve evenings and weekends.
The salary range for this opportunity is $25.00 - $28.00.
Other Duties:
1. Coordinates events with other departments.
2. Strong communication skills
3. Participates in the research and preparation of department budget, including supplies and equipment.
4. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned. Must be CPR, AED and First Aid certified.
5. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or Health Services Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. BS in Therapeutic Recreation is preferable.
- CPR Certification or willing to pursue CPR certification
- At least two (2) years’ experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting within the last five years is preferred.
- At least one (1) year experience working in Assisted Living/Memory Care preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting for approximately 60% of workday. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to push residents weighing up to 250 lbs. in wheelchairs. May be exposed to communicable diseases, HIV and Hepatitis B viruses, industrial and household chemicals, offensive odors and combative behavior.
