As a Phlebotomist and Care Assistant (CNA), you will deliver essential health care services to residents, combining duties as both a CNA and phlebotomist. Phlebotomist and Care Assistant, CNA, Position Summary:
- Patient Care : Perform routine nursing care, maintain a safe environment, and assist with activities of daily living.
- Phlebotomy : Conduct blood draws for laboratory testing, ensure proper identification and labeling of samples, and follow safety protocols.
- Resident Transport : Coordinate, accompany, and assist with Residents transportation to and from appointments, ensuring safety and adherence to schedules (no driving required).
- Documentation : Accurately document blood draws, patient interactions, and any incidents. Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations.
- Equipment Maintenance : Clean and maintain phlebotomy equipment, report malfunctions, and store equipment properly.
- Safety and Compliance : Adhere to infection control procedures, use PPE, and report any communicable diseases.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; CNA certification in New York; Phlebotomy certification (ASCP, NPA, or similar).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year as a CNA in a skilled nursing facility; phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to handle stressful situations; patience and compassion for working with elderly and disabled individuals.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Capable of handling emotional and physical stress, working with hostile or upset residents, and exposure to infectious conditions.
- Attend and participate in training and educational programs.
- Assist with resident dining, grooming, and ambulation.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
- Participate in resident care plan meetings and document activities accurately.
- Covid-19 vaccinations are encouraged but NOT MANDATED; we continue to offer COVID-19 vaccination based on eligibility guidance from CDC.
