Position Overview:
The Support Services functions at S:US are carried out by a team of professionals with differing backgrounds who share deeply in the S:US mission. The Finance Department is looking for a detailed-oriented, organized and accurate individual to join our Finance Team as a staff Accountant. The selected candidate will report to the Assistant Controller and will be responsible for working on all aspects of the general ledger and month-end close process. The candidate in this role will be involved in preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts and analyzing and ensuring the accuracy of data.

Job Requirements:
Prepare Journal Entries

Book contributions, maintain TRF schedule, prepare TRF release journal entries

Review security deposits and prepare journal entries when lease expires

Prepare monthly accruals & prepayments journal entries

Reporting

Prepare daily and monthly cash flow reports

Prepare bank accounts reconciliations

Analyze balance sheet and P&L accounts on a monthly basis as well as prepare related schedules

Reconcile Accounts

Prepare expense reimbursement invoices for related parties, book payments and keep balance due reconciliation

Ensure Data Accuracy

Prepare monthly insurance allocation

Assist with year-end audit and various grant audits

Responsible for on-going projects as per request of Sn Accountant, Assistant Controller or Controller.

 

III. KEY PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

 

Problem-solving skills – Ability to analyze data and search for inconsistencies, then reconcile inconsistencies and devise solutions to errors.

Accounting functions – Knowledge of technical accounting functions and experience in financial record keeping and bookkeeping.

Math skills – Ability to use math to calculate data and ensure that information is correct. Ability to work with numbers and make calculations with minimal errors. Knowledge of methods and practices of financial record keeping and proven ability to conduct moderately complex accounting functions.

Auditing experience – Requires a strong eye for errors and inconsistencies. Comfortable interpreting the accuracy of financial documents.

Communication skills – Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues and managers of all levels throughout the organization.

 

IV. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role in a not-for-profit organization.

Extensive bank reconciliation experience

Proficiency with MS Excel (pivot table and Vlookup – a must), Word and Outlook.

Experience in Serenic Navigator is a plus.
