Classification: Full-time, Hourly – non-exempt

Hours: Normal Office Hours – Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

Objective: Assist the Facilities Department with taking care of all aspects of the Church facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined in the REDEMPTION employee handbook;
  • Take shared responsibility for accomplishing the vision of REDEMPTION and the Facilities Department.
  • Strive to display professionalism and moral conduct becoming of a church environment.
  • Use detailed and professional communication in all areas.
  • Attend all mandatory Staff events and meetings required by leadership of Redemption.

FACILITY MAINTENANCE

  • Handle the maintenance of heating and cooling equipment, plumbing facilities, etc. according to a regular schedule as agreed to by the Executive Pastor.
  • Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly to-do list.
  • Perform minor fixes such as small drywall repairs.
  • Make minor mechanical, plumbing, furniture and other facilities repairs & requests, based upon competency and need.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment systems (i.e. ventilation).
  • Maintain the aesthetic appeal of the church by replacing light bulbs, removing trash/clutter, painting as needed, replacing door locks, and removing anything unsanitary and unsightly.

MINISTRY/EVENT SUPPORT

  • Set-up/breakdown chairs for special room-configurations requested by ministries and indicated on the weekly schedule provided by Executive Pastor Admin.
  • Prepare sanctuary and baptistery for scheduled Baptism.
  • Help in set-up for major, church-wide events.
  • Assist with set-up for meetings and Bible Studies as requested.
  • Ensure the church is prepared for worship (chairs, room temperature, signage as needed, etc.).
  • As needed, be on site to assist with facility needs for special events (wedding, rentals, etc.).
  • Ensure the building is prepared for funerals, repasts, and burials.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

  • Ability to complete basic furniture assembly is helpful.
  • Experience with plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, and general handyman work is greatly encouraged.
  • Proficiency with email, verbal, and written communication.
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb ladders, reach, bend, and lift.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Proven track record of problem solving and employer relations.
  • Demonstrates efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively.
  • Ability to manage a professional relationship with maintenance technicians and support the department in all areas needed.
  • Submitted and committed to the vision of Redemption Church.
  • Good organizational and communication skills; attention to details; able to handle information with confidentiality. Ability to relate well with pastoral staff, ministry leaders, co-workers, volunteers, visitors, outside vendors, and members. Looking for a great attitude, teachable, and someone that is willing to be flexible in the midst of change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must establish and foster exemplary relationships with church staff, volunteers, and members.
