As the Lead Test Engineer on the BE-3PM rocket engine team, you will be at the forefront of space exploration, leading a small, dedicated team of engineers. Your mission is to ensure the successful verification and testing of our BE-3PM rocket engines, contributing to their development, acceptance, qualification, and flight-readiness. This is a hands-on, lead Individual Contributor (IC) role where your technical expertise, leadership, and passion for innovation will drive the future of spaceflight.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in an engineering field (aerospace, mechanical, or physics desired)
  • 5+ years of experience in a rocket or aerospace testing environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading a multidisciplinary team with a focus on meeting established objectives, determining priorities, and executing on a vision
  • Strong understanding and ability to apply engineering fundamentals including thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
  • Solid understanding of rocket engine cycles, other rocket engines or propulsion systems
  • Demonstrated familiarity with data analysis and data-based decision making
  • Working knowledge of engines components such as turbopumps, combustion chambers, injectors, regulators, check valves, as well as electric, pneumatic and hydraulic valves, actuators and other fluid system components
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering standards, technical requirements and drawings
  • Desire to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and dynamic environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to support maintenance and launch operations as required to our West Texas Launch Site One facility.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Desired:

  • A deep curiosity to understand engines at a component and system level
  • Strong understanding of the non-conformance process within the aerospace industry
  • Knowledge of system engineering practices
  • Proven experience and successful track record managing risk
  • Experience in project planning and resource allocation to ensure successful execution
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation including pressure transducers, thermocouples, and accelerometers
  • Working knowledge of a variety of rocket propellants including cryogenic propellants

Compensation Range for WA applicants is $111,690.00-$156,366.00. Other site ranges may differ.
