The Engineering Technician is responsible for performing technical tasks under supervision of a Senior Technician or Lab Supervisor to assist engineers with the testing of engineering systems.
BGM-ES is a part of Exponential Technology Group (XTG). XTG is part of the TTI Family of Companies and is a specialist in the electronic component distribution and design engineering services industries. This position will report to the Engineering Lab Supervisor. This position will be onsite in Auburn Hills, MI.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Conducts engineering tests and experimental testing.
Assist in solving mechanical or electronics problems involved in the operation of products.
Assists in general laboratory work including soldering electronic parts on boards, basic mechanical assembly, and other hands-on tasks as required for prototyping small electronic devices.
Assists engineers with fabricating and assembling electronics subassemblies for prototype models from schematics, rough sketches, and verbal instructions.
May completely troubleshoot an electronics system to determine cause and remedy for malfunctions.
May provide work leadership to lower-level technicians or interns.
Requires ability to use practical electronic theory, basic machine tools, and work from schematics and rough sketches.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in Electronics or similar field preferred. One to three years’ experience in a testing environment preferred.
SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and understand a schematic and PCB Assembly drawings.
  • Detailed component knowledge.
  • Hands on Troubleshooting of electronic circuits.
  • 8D process for Root Cause Investigation.
  • Hands-on knowledge of lab equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Working and practical knowledge of Microsoft Suite of tools.
  • ESD handling procedures known and practiced.
  • Component soldering skills an asset.
  • ESD Training Certificate a plus.
  • Soldering certifications per IPC Standards a plus.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards for PCB/PCBA a plus.
