About this role:
The Production Manager oversees the implementation of the technical production management at Abrons Arts Center with a specific focus on the Arts Center’s programming, residencies, and arts education programs. You will support the Arts Center’s programming and arts education teams on the efficient operation of technical spaces and the implementation of technical plans for live productions, exhibitions, residencies, workshops, and events.
The Production Manager will report to the Director of Production.

You have:
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience in production supervision
  • An excellent working knowledge of techniques, methods, and procedures of theater, dance, visual art, and music productions
  • Proficiency in Office 365 software, Google Drive Suite, QLab
You will support the Programming Department by:
  • Hiring, onboarding, and supervising per diem production crew members for the Arts Center’s seasonal programming, residencies, productions, and exhibitions
  • Production managing Arts Center’s seasonal programming
  • Collaborating closely with the Producing Director and Associate Producer to effectively prepare for, schedule, and budget production personnel and production-related needs for residencies, productions, and exhibitions
  • Effectively monitor per diem production crew schedules and submit payroll
  • Provide the Programming team with project-related purchase orders and check request information for processing
  • Brainstorming and applying solutions to technical challenges as they arise with calm, care, and creativity
You will support the Arts Education Department by:
  • Hiring, onboarding, and supervising per diem production crew members for the Art Education department’s showcases, workshops, and events
  • Production managing Art Education public programs
  • Collaborating closely with the Director of Arts Education and Community Engagement to effectively prepare for, schedule, and budget production personnel and production-related expenses for productions
  • Effectively monitor per diem production crew schedules and submit payroll
  • Provide the Arts Education team with project-related purchase orders and check request information for processing
  • Brainstorming and applying solutions to technical challenges as they arise with calm, care, and creativity
You will support the Production Department by:
  • Co-managing the maintenance of Production Department equipment, including lighting, sound, video, and rigging equipment in collaboration with department team members
  • Arranging for the acquisition, repair, and replacement of equipment and expendables within budget
  • Ensuring proper safety, maintenance, cleanliness, and functionality of shop and other backstage support areas
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Essential Physical Job Functions:
  • Must be New York City-based
  • Possessing or open to receiving de-escalation training
  • Must be COVID-19 vaccinated
  • Must be able to move throughout our 40,000+ square foot facility that includes stairs, ramps, indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs or more as needed
  • A current driver's license is a plus, as well as confidence driving a 15-seat passenger van throughout New York City
