We are seeking a Director of Operations (based in Elgin, Illinois) to lead production managers, engineers, and manufacturing processes in the realms of HARTING custom cable assembly solutions and HAN Eco and HAN B lines.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will be a strategic leader in the development of KPIs that operationalize the company’s strategic map in North America and globally. This leader will drive us forward in the space of automation and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:

  1. Provide leadership and set clear goals to execute strategic plans.
  2. Determine key performance metrics and complete employee performance reviews. Communicate targets, recommend opportunities for improvement, and develop and mentor employees.
  3. Champion lean manufacturing initiatives to support cost reductions, waste reductions, process automation, quality improvements, and on-time delivery to facilitate a culture of continuous improvement.
  4. Manage operation to achieve/exceed profitability goals and compliance with overall delivery, quality, and cost targets.
  5. Develop and implement cost control measures, cost estimates, manpower and equipment forecasts, and annual departmental operating budgets.
  6. Ensure effective personnel, machinery/equipment, and material utilization according to demand.
  7. Develop space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  8. Develop, evaluate, and continuously improve manufacturing technologies.
  9. Collaborate with stakeholders in Product Development and New Product Introduction regarding product design, manufacturing feasibility, and tooling.
  10. Establish and implement site preventative maintenance schedules.
  11. Implement automation and Industry 4.0 connectivity capabilities.
  12. Ensure adherence to company Environmental, Health, & Safety compliance priorities.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Skills and experience to thrive in this role:

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. 8 years manufacturing operations experience (production, planning, quality, engineering, etc.), with at least 3 years including supervisory responsibilities.
  3. Experience with quality standards, including ISO 9001/14001 and AS9100 regulations.
  4. Experience with Just-in-Time techniques and Lean Manufacturing.
  5. Design and implementation of Automation / Automated Processes, preferred.
  6. 5-10% travel.
