Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Designer with some exposure to Project Management. You will design fire protection systems for our design-build projects and work with internal staff to develop submittals, shop drawings, BIM models, and field coordination drawings. Ideally, we want someone who enjoys being hands-on with projects to ensure project deadlines and milestones are met.
- Prepare fire protection system layouts and detailed drawings and schematics to produce a complete set of construction drawings in accordance with applicable codes and standards
- Perform accurate design calculations, including hydraulic calculations
- Procurement of necessary equipment and materials
- Attend and participate in job meetings as required for each project
- Inspect the job site regularly for contract compliance, workmanship, and safety
- Estimate changes in the scope of work
- Maintain professional rapport with architects, engineers, general contractors, building owners, installers and suppliers
- Manage projects from $25,000 to $5M.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of the construction process in its entirety
- Knowledge of fire protection systems and code requirements.
- Experience in fire sprinkler design using HydraCad, BIM, and Navisworks is preferred but not required.
- 3+ years of experience with Fire Protection Design
- Some exposure to Project Management is a plus
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Must possess exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Navisworks
- Knowledge of Acubid is a plus
