Basic Purpose
The Commercial Account Manager is responsible for generating new orders by selling corporate products and services. The representative will reach their established sales quotas through effective management of defined territories, assigned customers, and assigned projects. This role will also work closely with operations to develop ongoing, profitable relationships with customers and continually maintain a professional image of Insituform.
Responsibilities:
- Define and execute sales strategies and tactics to meet or exceed annual sales plans and quotas.
- Generate and qualify leads for subsequent development.
- Perform account planning to identify, develop, and close business opportunities in support of business plan and strategic objectives. Maintain favorable business relationships with accounts.
- Ensure all sales activity and opportunities are up to date in the in house Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the products and services offered by Insituform. Conduct sales calls and make product / service presentations to meet customer needs.
- Prepare proposals and recommend contract prices. Execute bid strategy, provide input into the estimating process, optimize pricing, and develop project teams (consultants, subcontractors, and other internal and external collaborators) to acquire and complete profitable contracts.
- Generate market intelligence for capture and subsequent analysis. Respond to competitive analyses.
- Provide input into development of marketing communications and product portfolio decisions.
- Remain current on sales performance and provide sales reports as required. Provide ongoing status reports to detail activity to include factored sales forecast, acquisitions report, and backlog report.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analyses, comparing actual results against budgets and forecasts.
- Support budgeting and forecasting process for full financials, including P&L, capex, and balance sheet through historical and operational metrics.
- Develop trends or other ad hoc analyses to test forecast assumptions and understand risks and opportunities to the forecast.
- Develop, review, and refine key performance indicators and performance dashboards / reporting to support critical business decisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Business, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Construction Management or other related field required.
- MBA is an asset.
- 5+ years related sales experience in the energy, pipeline, and/or municipal markets with demonstrated success.
- Strong people management and decision-making skills.
- Entrepreneurial energy with a flair for start-up business operations.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and empower, to be a strong communicator able to take initiative and function independently.
- Ability to deal with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Correspond and verbally communicate in a professional manner with customers
- Ability to work with complex spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software. Ability to learn new applications quickly. Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Power Point) required.
- Some travel will be required.
