The Parts Manager is responsible for running a profitable and efficient parts department. He/she will accomplish objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilization, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying, and advertising.
Job Description:

  1. Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them. Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the parts department.
  2. Strive for harmony and teamwork with all other departments.
  3. Work with the Service Manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for all jobs.
  4. Develop and maintain a professional relationship with Manufacturers representatives.
  5. Attend managers meetings.
  6. Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with manufacturer, federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales.
  7. Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all parts department staff.
  8. Direct and schedule the activities of all parts department employees.
  9. Provide technical assistance to parts department employees.
  1. Conduct meetings with parts department employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest and to develop strategies for a more efficient operation.
  2. Monitor parts department employees' payroll records.
  3. Develop, enforce, and monitor guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  4. Handle customer complaints immediately and according to the dealership's guidelines.
  5. Establish and enforce a pricing policy that balances volume, customer loyalty, and the cost of doing business.
  6. Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence.
  7. Determine work standards and evaluate workers' performance.
  8. Ensure department is following guidelines for a safe workplace.
  9. Ensure that subordinates conform to the company's policy on non-discrimination and harassment and personally conform to those policies.
  10. Work in a cooperative and professional manner with all personnel.
  11. Treat all members of the public in a courteous and non-discriminatory manner, and maintain a professional demeanor while on the job.
  12. Report any violation of the sexual harassment/non-discrimination policies to management.
  13. Perform other tasks as assigned.
