Responsibilities:
The Leave Administrator will support Barrow Wise's Illinois project and perform the following duties:

  • Analyze, track, approve, manage, and report employee leave time
  • Determine employee eligibility and report approval to the employee and to the Illinois Employee Benefits Department within two (2) business days
  • Provide leave training in-person and/or remotely, as requested by Illinois, on the FMLA, VESSA, ALWOP, and USERRA leave as they relate to employees annually. This training shall provide a presentation explaining FMLA and other leave types, the laws and rules surrounding using such leaves, how to process leave requests, etc. The presentation may also include a question-and-answer section to allow Illinois managers to discuss the issues they face with leaves and better understand how to handle them.
  • Participate in meetings with the Illinois Employee Benefits Department to discuss employee absence issues
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and annual reports that detail all leave requests, type of leave, dates requested, and leave decisions and that also summarize all leave of absence information
  • Provide the Tollway performance satisfaction surveys, feedback, and focus group sessions as needed, but no less than once a year
  • May supervise additional staff

An ideal candidate has the following:
  • US. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business or another related field
  • HR certification including SHRM and Leave Administrator (must be submitted with resume)
  • 5 (five) or more years of experience in human resources, time compliance, or leave administration with a Federal Agency
  • Track record of being highly organized and self-motivated
  • Experience with responsibility for the financial management of an entity or a large program
  • Proven communication skills, both oral and written
