Acts as the liaison for key functional areas in translating their data and reporting requirements and expectations into practical visualization reports. Serves as the research and technical expert to create views of institutional data related to key functional areas. Manages the full cycle of development, implementation, enhancement, and troubleshooting of data visualizations and dashboards. This position works closely with college stakeholders and various business partners including Information Technology department to provide solutions that are relevant in meeting the analytical needs of the college.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Develops and maintains data reports and data visualizations to monitor progress on institutional key performance indicators.
  2. Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal stakeholders acting as a liaison between functional and analytical requirements.
  3. Creates and maintains databases for research queries from a wide variety of internal and external sources.
  4. Restructures data files, performs data cleaning operations, and analyzes data using specialized statistical software.
  5. Writes codes, scripts, or syntaxes.
  6. Integrates information and data from multiple sources including from many individuals across campus or from a variety of data sets.
  7. Troubleshoots data anomalies and data integrity issues.
  8. Produces visually appealing and meaningful reports and dashboards which assist users in making decisions.
  9. Publishes data visualizations and reports for data self-service across the college.
  10. Prepares and gives presentations to governance committees and groups regarding the reports and dashboards prepared, and data issues and challenges.
  11. Recommends data sources and database design.
  12. Supervises institutional research analyst(s).
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
  1. Master's Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field.
  2. At least Two (2) years of relevant professional experience required.
  3. Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar required.
  4. Experience in institutional research or related office at an institution of higher education preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  1. Proven ability to understand complex situations, tasks, or problems, often with multiple stakeholder groups, analyze them using a systematic approach and identify patterns and connections between situations.
  2. Excellent data analysis skills and ability to work with very large data sets.
  3. Strong understanding of database concepts including SQL.
  4. Extensive experience with data warehouse concepts.
  5. Extensive experience with business intelligence tools.
  6. Extensive experience with statistical programming and analysis.
  7. The ability to work independently with little direction as well as effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  8. Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.
  9. Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
  10. Strong commitment to quality and objectivity.
  11. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  12. Ability to write research reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  13. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  14. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, faculty and staff.
  15. Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  16. Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
  17. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation.
