Job Title : Senior SQL / Database Developer

Job ID: 2022-11813

Job Location: Whippany, NJ (onsite 3 times a week)

Key Technology: SQL, data modeling, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, DynamoDB

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with full stack developers, business analysts, and QA analysts on features, from conception to deployment.
  • Implement database enhancements to deliver committed customer project objectives, data migrations, and new program launches.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity while managing outbound data sharing with clients and data aggregators.
  • Develop and support database functionality in applications with significant business logic in PostgreSQL.
  • Create tables, complex stored procedures, functions, views, and reports.
  • Participate in the full project life cycle, including requirements elaboration, system design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Estimate assigned work effort and be accountable for completion dates.
  • Document coded assets for maintainability and extensibility.
  • Troubleshoot critical production issues and support production releases.
  • Mentor junior developers on implementation as needed.
  • Follow standard software development methodologies and Agile practices in a collaborative environment.
  • Manage multiple project deliverables concurrently and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Skills and Experience Required:

Critical Skills:

  • 4-7 years as a database developer with strong SQL (stored procedures, functions, views, triggers), performance optimization, and data modeling (OLTP / OLAP).
  • 2-3 years implementing data migrations and custom data pipelines.
  • 2-4 years PostgreSQL experience.
  • 1-3 years with AWS RDS, DynamoDB, S3.
  • 2-3 years with GIT for source control and release management.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, or shell scripting.
  • AWS services such as EC2, Glue, EventBridge, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux commands.
  • Agile (Kanban/Scrum) experience.
  • ETL platform experience (e.g., AWS Glue, Talend) is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience in a software development role.
