Department Description:
Southern California Permanente Medical Group Strategic Consulting Services (SCS) is a Regional Department that supports Physician Execution Leadership in making data-driven decisions that enable the delivery of clinical care for 4.9 million members across Southern California.
Intern Project(s):
Areas of opportunity include Surgical Services, Medical Specialties, Behavioral Health, Women's and Children's, Data Analytics, Venture Programs, and other areas.
Target Majors:
Computer Science, Finance & Accounting, Public Health, Healthcare Administration.
Target Skills:
Strong critical thinking, problem solving, presentation and storytelling via PowerPoint and other tools. Emotional intelligence and analytical skills with an ability to use Excel and other tools.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute high-level analytical support to a project or department requiring application of knowledge in marketing, information management, finance, management, economics, or statistics.
- Participate in at least one project and produce results and reports as a member of a project team.
- Organize assigned project tasks, identify and structure information collection activities, and set timelines for completion of required tasks as directed.
- Develop tools to identify and document best practices.
- Prepare various Excel, Word, or PowerPoint reports, and work with Access database software (or similar tool) to develop data extracts and management information reports.
- Produce graphic information using Excel or PowerPoint or similar software.
- Contribute to the development of management information and analysis conducted, provide recommendations, and assist with preparation of formal presentations to communicate results to various management levels.
- Identify alternative solutions to project issues.
- Contribute to development project plans to ensure timely deliverables and successful completion of projects.
- Assist with identification and development of training information.

Education: Enrolled in or recent graduate of an MBA or other Master’s level program with an accredited college or university.
License, Certification, Registration: N/A
Additional Requirements:
Solid analytical skills, problem solving, project management, and critical thinking. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to utilize at a working level Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of SQL or SAS highly desirable.
