We are seeking a highly motivated Project Director - Civil Highways to join our global team of experts and manage a design team delivering transportation infrastructure projects involving both bridge and roadway aspects under Alternate Project Delivery methods. You will serve as a Project Director and Designer for final design and you will be responsible for assisting with management of multidisciplinary teams as well as managing the delivery of your own tasks in terms of budget, quality, and timelines. Strong project management and technical skills required.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Lead and manage civil/roadway projects with FDOT, GDOT, County, City, or municipalities.
- Oversee the development of roadway plans, highway geometric design computations, MOT/Traffic Control Plans, Drainage, Utility planning and permitting.
- Develop and maintain great relationships with FDOT/GDOT staff and other key stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities and proposal development.
- Work in a multidisciplinary environment with a focus on roadway projects, while being open to other specializations.
- Act as the Associate Project Director for key customers and provide management support to team members within the organization.
- Maximize distributed engineering by coordinating works with regional and global offices of engineering excellence, to meet budget/time/quality goals.
- Coordinate transportation & infrastructure business marketing activities with BD personnel and generate additional work within the portfolio to the overall benefit of COWI North America.
- Manage projects (or an equivalent portfolio of projects) with construction fees over $100M, requiring 10-25+ staff and/or complex multi-disciplinary projects and/or framework agreements.
- Carry out project management duties in accordance with the Company Quality Management System including, but not limited to project scheduling, resource management, project budget controls, and client sub-contractor management and interfacing.
- Lead project teams, manage the contract and client to ensure profitability and other targets are met.

On top of that, you will have:
- BA in Civil Engineering and Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in Florida or Georgia, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- No less than 20 years of experience as an engineer.
- Served as project manager, design manager, or lead designer for final design on at least three complex urban transportation infrastructure projects involving both bridge and roadway aspects of similar complexity and scope; and procured under an Alternative Project Delivery or P3 methods.
- A minimum of 20+ years of experience in civil/roadway project engineering and management.
- Experience working with FDOT, GDOT, County, City, or municipal projects.
- Experience in coordinating and managing multi-disciplinary design teams.
- Experience delivering projects through Alternate Project Delivery methods as Design build and Progressive Design build or Construction Manager/General Contractor.
- Comprehensive written and oral communication skills.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- High organizational and time management skills.
- Effective team building skills, solid leadership skills and able to manage multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work with staff located remotely.
- Ability and willingness to travel, predominantly in North America.
