Medical Assistant- Carlsbad Family Practice

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the office manager or practitioner performs basic patient care activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain provider(s) operating room schedule of procedures and diagnostic studies
• Send orders/information and any communications to the respective department in advance for scheduled procedures/diagnostic studies.
• Perform prior-authorization of procedures and diagnostic studies, assist provider and office with coding.
• Assist back clinic office in obtaining vitals and rooming of patients when needed.
• Ensure cleanliness of office and examination rooms.
• Clean and store equipment.
• Maintain supply inventory and re-stock as required.
• Perform basic clerical duties as needed.

• As assigned.

• Knowledge of clinic front/back office duties and coding

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education - High school diploma or equivalent; plus specialized, short-term training in basic patient care.
• Work Experience - clinic setting preferred.
• Training - Formal nursing assistant and/or medical assistant training recommended.
• License/Certification - Certification in Nurse Assisting or Certification in Medical Assisting preferred.

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
