Job Description

Apex Clean Energy is seeking an experienced Head of Construction Project Management to lead the construction and engineering teams for utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects. The Head of Construction Project Management will be responsible for overseeing the entire construction management process, from pre-construction planning through execution and commissioning. This position requires a strong focus on managing both internal and external stakeholders, including EPC contractors, and ensuring seamless transitions from development to construction and ultimately to operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of project execution for utility-scale wind, solar, and BESS projects, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Oversee the construction management process, including pre-construction planning, engineering coordination, scheduling, and execution of renewable energy construction projects.
  • Work closely with the other teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth handoffs from project development into construction.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including EPC contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure project success and compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize project execution processes and improve efficiency across all phases of construction.
  • Oversee project controls, including cost management, risk assessment, and project reporting, to ensure timely communication of project progress and issues.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure smooth project transitions and integration into the company's operational portfolio.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the construction and engineering teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and innovation.
  • Lead strategic initiatives to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency, aligning departmental goals with overall company objectives.
  • Manage the construction department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and tracking of expenditures to meet financial targets.
  • Engage in strategic stakeholder management, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate project success and organizational growth.
  • Serve as a key member of Apex’s leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making related to project execution and company growth.
