Forbes Bros USA Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Operational Accountant (Full time, Permanent) to join our team in Denver, CO!

The Senior Operational Accountant will work closely with our operations team at Titan Electric Inc. and Forbes Bros Utility Construction, to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of all operational related financials. The successful candidate will possess the ability to handle and analyze large volumes of data and will have excellent time management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lives Forbes Bros. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day
  • Key contributor to executing on annual budgeting and strategic planning process at the total organizational level
  • Act as a liaison between management, estimating, and the operations to validate assumptions and ensure the accurate flow of information
  • Driver of monthly forecasts to ensure achievement of operating and financial objectives
  • Finance business partner driving to help management and operations achieve project profitability and cost effectiveness
  • Track, analyze, and report on project performance ranging from small projects to large multi-million dollar projects
  • Prepare and post journal entries, prepare account reconciliation related to the operations, and recognize revenue using percentage of completion on a monthly basis
  • Schedule and run the month-end closing process in accordance with the timelines set by corporate
  • In depth knowledge of contract requirements for billing and ability identify contract risk
  • Project specific reporting and analysis for internal and external clients
  • Complete variance analysis on both jurisdictional and job profitability
  • Review of open purchase orders and preparation of accrual entries on a monthly basis
  • Variance analysis of financial results against both budget and forecast results
  • Maintains systems, procedures, and policies in accordance to Forbes guidelines
  • Actively monitor outstanding account receivables balance, pursues payment collections from clients, and provide reporting on overdue balances
  • Assist in regulatory audits (WCB, indirect taxes, etc.) and annual audit processes
  • Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned
What We Are Looking For

  • Post Secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with overall accounting directly related to project accounting or financial analysis.
  • In depth knowledge of operational accounting, job profit analysis and cost analysis
  • Experience with complex job costing principles and variance analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel (including VLookup, Pivot Table and IF functions)
  • CPA Designation is preferred
