The objective of the Area Manager role is to increase market share, control fleet, meet and exceed profitability targets, and reach customer service goals while training and developing your team. Responsible for customer and employee relations for Hertz Local Edition locations.
A Day in the Life:
The Area Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful operation of their assigned grouping of Hertz Local Edition branches.
What You’ll Do:
- Achievement of operational goals, revenue goals, and financial objectives as stated in annual business planning.
- Ensure unparalleled customer satisfaction.
- Develop and implement local sales and marketing initiatives.
- Train and develop all location employees.
- Ensure efficient utilization and effective control of vehicle inventory.
- Inspire staff members to reach for high goals and encourage open discussion of ideas for improving the area's performance.
- Create an 'Ownership' culture with a focus on sales and customer service.
- Challenge, encourage, and develop employees.
- Maintain effective employee staffing.
- Achieve fleet utilization and out-of-service goals.
- Manage required administrative tasks, controls, and reports.
- Remain current on all administrative duties according to company policy.
- Provide specific performance feedback to each employee on a semi-annual and annual basis.
- Complete sales calls with branch staff to develop employees, increase market penetration, and increase revenue.
- Ensure all corporate policies and procedures are administered and followed appropriately by all personnel.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in a customer-focused environment preferred.
- Previous car rental industry experience preferred.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functions and locations.
- Ability to influence.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to interact effectively at multiple levels in support of customer relationships.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
- Some knowledge of employment and labor laws.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
