Proskauer is seeking a Tax Accountant who will be responsible for a variety of firm-wide tax related activities. The Tax Accountant will be exposed to various tax concepts involving domestic and international regulations. The Tax Accountant will report to the Tax Supervisor and will also work closely with the Senior Manager of Tax and Partner Accounting, Partner Accounting Supervisor, Controller and Accounting & Tax officer.
Responsibilities
• Preparation of various federal, state and international business filings, local tax registrations, and sales/value added tax returns.
• Assist in the preparation of tax estimates including but not limited to Federal and State Nonresident withholding taxes, Pass-through Entity taxes, and Composite taxes.
• Assist in the gathering and review of composite returns participation and nonresident withholding elections for partners.
• Preparation of State and Foreign Apportionment schedules.
• Routinely reconcile tax ledgers and payments while investigating discrepancies, as needed.
• Preparation of memorandums describing relevant federal, state and international tax topics and research.
• Participate in projects to automate the firm's federal, state and local tax processes.
• Calculation of the Firm's comprehensive tax deductions such as Meals and Entertainment, Gifts, and Charitable Contributions.
• Coordinate and monitor foreign tax obligations with internal and external teams.
• Monitor tax department email inbox and respond to questions from partners and their advisors, other departments and outside service providers.
• Collaborate with various teams in the Finance department to complete various tasks and assignments.
Qualifications
• Minimum 3+ years of tax experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• CPA or EA is preferred
• Partnership experience is preferred
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
• Desire to grow career in dynamic tax department
• Strong ability to communicate
This position will require physical presence in Proskauer's offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require). The anticipated compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
